![]() North Central principal search: Former IPS Superintendent Eugene White named interim North Central High School principal Mendez received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University at Indianapolis, his master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, and his doctoral degree from Indiana State University. ![]() In 2022 he was named middle school principal of the year by the Indiana Association of School Principals. From 2017 to 2019 he served as director of secondary education for Decatur Township schools. Before that he worked as a teacher and in administrative roles for Perry Township schools. Mendez is currently the principal of Seymour Middle School where he has served since 2019. “He has a proven track record of not only impactful leadership but also success raising achievement for diverse student populations in urban public schools,” district officials said in a news release. More North Central news: Washington Township Schools settle North Central High School sexual harassment suit District officials began their search in December 2022 after Evans Branigan III announced his intention to retire at the end of the school year.Nearly 100 stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, district staff and school board members participated in the search process, and evaluated Mendez over four rounds of interviews.
